Road cycling is one of the disciplines that comes closest to track cycling or cyclocrossing. Unlike the equipment necessary for mountain biking and its circuits, road cycling is also different from cycle touring because it privileges the aspects of leisure and tourism. This sporting activity is aimed at both professionals and amateurs.
Cycling on the road aims at medium or long distance routes without interruption and on axes taking into account road safety. Generally, this discipline is primarily based on fitness and effort. It is a sport where stamina and tactics are essential elements to master. The distances are chosen with a precise number of kilometres according to the skills of the individual and the difference in level is also part of the selection criteria.
The Vosges has the advantage of offering a variety of gentle or steeper slopes. The mountain passes are appreciated by the most enduring groups going up to an altitude of 1,171 metres. Our cycle maps offer a choice of 12 circuits which meets everyone's expectations. The 37-kilometre circuit of Bouzey is aimed at amateurs who can travel in a rural environment, while the more adventurous can take circuit n ° 8b in the direction of Gérardmer - Col de la Schlucht to conquer an ascent of 2,050 metres.
For several years, the Vosges County Council has been developing actions promoting the good practice of this sport. On this website, you can find more information on all the disciplines associated with this sport and leisure cycling throughout the area. The County Champions have also tested and commented on a good part of the proposed circuits to give us their professional advice.
