THE NATIVE AMERICAN DOME – LA FERME AVENTURE

Residential holiday park in La Chapelle-aux-Bois
  • -The Native American dome: dreams under the Milky Way…
The wigwam is a type of house built by semi-nomadic Native Americans of North-America, including the Micmac and Algonquin tribes. This circular house is made up of a frame of poles on which is fixed a covering of birch bark, cattail or rush mats. The bark pieces are sewn together using spruce or fir roots. In winter it is covered with animal skins. A fire is kept burning in the centre, with smoke escaping through a chimney hole.

More contemporary and designed by Jean Leymann, the "Vosges" wigwam, the Native American dome, is clad in natural cotton canvas and has a large transparent window offering a wide view of the sky.
Located at the entrance of the park, the wigwam is equipped for wheelchair access.
Please bring a sleeping bag, toiletries and a torch.
