SKATE PARK
Sports activities
in Épinal
-
Inaugurated in 2009, it is one of the first concrete skate parks in the area. The project was made possible by the Conseil des Jeunes with the support of the city of Epinal. The "park" as the sportsmen call it, offers varied modules perfectly adapted to the different practices (skateboarding, BMX, etc.). So, everyone can find something to suit them!
The skatepark is a lively space with its own community, although it is always ready to welcome new enthusiasts.

The park was designed by Constructo, a real skatepark architecture company. It offers a large "street" part, i.e. "which reproduces the urban furniture". So there are "curbs" that look like benches, handrails that look like staircase ramps, steps... And another part is more focused on a "bowl" which was inspired by the empty Californian swimming pools in which the first skaters went to ride when their neighbours were on holiday.
The skatepark also offers a wall of expression where numerous graffiti have already been painted. The first frescoes depicted Coluche, certainly in reference to the Restos du Cœur, which are located on the other side of the road. In June 2017, a collaborative fresco was created by two Puerto Rican artists on the occasion of their visit to the first Épinal Tattoo Convention.
The Woodmen association was created by young people from Epinal in order to bring the spot to life and to create an emulation around this meeting place and the practice of skateboarding and BMX. It has grown and diversified by getting involved in many events and now has more than 130 active members. Every year the association organises a skateboard and BMX contest. It is a friendly competition which main goal is to bring together the skate and BMX enthusiasts of the area for a weekend in good spirits around their passion, for the greatest pleasure of the spectators.
Important information:
The skatepark is free and open to all. However, it is forbidden to children under eight years old because it is an infrastructure for extreme sports. Protective gear is strongly recommended.
