The museum - Musée d'Art Militaire

Created in 1976, on a site of more than 1,500 square metres, the museum – Musée D’Art Militaire retraces the evolution of military outfits and equipment from 1914 to the Gulf War. The different periods are separated into themed rooms such as 1914-1918, colonial area, phoney war, occupation, liberation, Indochina and Algeria.

You will find:

  • Many uniforms and accessories (caps, belt buckles, etc.), 
  • ​Equipment (radio sets, knives, etc.),
  • Posters of the time,
  • A collection of French, English, American and German weapons as well as ammunition and explosives which are presented in various display cases full of objects that all have a history. One example of such is General de Castelnau’s uniforms. He freed Nancy from German occupation in 1914.
  • You can also find a collection of vehicles (tanks, Jeep, etc.).

The museum also has a cinema room, where some period films can be played during day or themed tours.

Tours

The museum is open on the 1st, 3rd and 5th weekends from the month of May to November 11, from 2.30 p.m. - 6.30 p.m. Group tours can be arranged during the week by appointment.
