Day and Night is a well-known national event and is aimed at educating people about light pollution which is the result of artificial night lighting.
One evening, which last from 8 p.m. to midnight, you are invited to rediscover the starry sky near the Planetarium with the naked eye or using a telescope. This is a unique opportunity to measure the impact of light pollution on the observation of stars. This event is possible thanks to the support of the Town Hall in Épinal which turns off public lighting in the neighborhood around the Planetarium from 10 p.m.
In addition to this observation, there are discovery sessions and a film on light pollution is projected inside the dome. Not only does this helps to better understand the consequences of this pollution on the fauna and flora, but also its impact on stars becoming more and more imperceptible to our eyes.
