Day and Night is a well-known national event and aims at educating people about light pollution — the result of artificial night lighting.
For one evening, from 8 p.m. to midnight, you are invited to rediscover the starry sky near the Planetarium with the naked eye or a telescope. This is a unique opportunity to measure the impact of light pollution on the observation of stars. This event is possible thanks to the support of the Town Hall in Épinal, which turns off public lighting in the neighborhood around the Planetarium from 10 p.m.
In addition to this observation, discovery sessions are organised and a film on light pollution is projected inside the dome. Not only does this help to better understand the consequences of this pollution on the fauna and flora, but it alos reveals its impact on stars, which is more and more imperceptible to our eyes.
