The Courses of the Fortress


Forge and Decorative ironwork course

From the 17 th to the 30 th of November

The course is essentially practical and is organised as a training site. Several theoretical sessions will take place during the course: the materials, the blacksmith’s tools, the techniques of extraction and melting. The techniques that are tackled during the course are varied, so that the different steps of manufacturing a wrought-iron object can be studied. You will learn the following techniques: flattening, bending, preparing, hot cutting, riveting, hot piercing…


Introductory course in stone cutting:

From the 29th of August to the 11th of September

The course given at the Châtel Fortress allows you to discover or get better at stone cutting techniques.

From the 18th to the 31st of July, from the 1st to the 14th of August, from the 15th to the 28th of August.

In this large-scale medieval fortress, steeped in history and ranked as Historical Monument, you will take part in a restoration site that will allow you to discover or get better at the techniques of lime mortar masonry and stone cutting, while respecting the protection of a site, in an international atmosphere facilitating intercultural exchanges...
